Habitat the homeware retailer became insolvent in 2011 after Administrators Zolfo Cooper declared the company bankrupt. The company went into administration after falling sales due to the credit crunch.

…2019: Habitat, now owned by the Sainsbury’s Group, has 17 physical stores around the UK and in 2018 opened two new standalone stores – one in Westfield White City and the other in Brighton. Habitat has its own ecommerce website, while some of its products are also available via Argos online and offline stores as Argos is also part of the same group.

TJ Hughes the department store became insolvent in 2011 after their Administrators declared the company bankrupt. The company went into administration due to falling sales at the department store chain led to the loss of supplier and credit insurer confidence.

...2019: Six stores were bought out in 2011 by Lewis’s Home Retail Ltd. These stores continued trading under TJ Hughes. Since 2012 there has also been a series of stores which have reopened in previous existing locations as well as new locations, most recently in 2018 in Dundee. TJ Hughes says it may open as many as 55 stores in total.
